Helen,

I just learned today that Micheal Douglas cancer started on the base of the tongue. We have excellent tongue cancer treatment results, like this singer who refused conventional treatments because the side effects wouldn't allow him to sing after the treatment, plus all the other irreversible side effects of surgery, high dose radiation, and chemotherapy.

Please, watch this video interview with the Base of tongue patient:

Louisa,

We have treated pancreatic cancer but in palliative way, prolonging patient's life for about a year, eliminating pain, and improving quality of life.

I do not recall eliminating a stage IV pancreatic cancer completely.

For a more detailed answer we suggest you to call to Nash at 310-398-0013, telling her more specifics about that person and situation, and ask her to talk to one of oncology doctors.

Thank you for your question.

Hello Helen,

Thank you very much for your great question! No many people think in an "unreasonable" way like you, meaning out of the box.

This is a great question because our Hyperthermia combined with low-dose-fractionated-radiation treatment in a very good option to Michael Douglas' throat cancer. I just asked to one of our head oncologists and he said that that type of stage IV throat cancer is indeed treatable with curative intent. It means if we treat Micheal Douglas throat cancer, we aim for a cure, not just "try".

Our Neck/Throat cancer success rate is about 87% for early stages, I and II, but we have very good success rate with cancer tumors stages III and IV on the throat too, like Michael Douglas.

Please clink on this link to see some Hyperthermia treatment results in our web site, and some comparative charts too:
http://vci.org/cancer_treatments_miscell/latest-breastcancer-prostatecancer-headandneckcancer-treatment-results.htm

Thank you again for your thoughtful and brilliant comment! Stop by often please!

I heard that Michael Douglas has stage IV throat cancer. It's spread to the lymph nodes. Is it treatable and curable with your Hperthermia and low dose radiation treatment?

Pat,

I forgot to add this link about the paper I mentioned before, the comparison of Erectile Dysfunction on Hyperthermia combined with low-dose-fractionated-radiation and conventional radiation alone treatments:
http://www.vci.org/alternative-prostate-cancer-treatment/prostate_cancer_treatment_side_effects.htm

Looking up inn Google: "erectile dysfunction of radiation therapy" I found this very important information:

"One study shows erectile dysfunction rates of 66% for nerve-sparing prostatectomy versus 75% for non-nerve sparing surgery at one year after the surgery. The use of vacuum devices or erectile dysfunction drugs after surgery once the body has healed may improve the quality of erections and speed the return of normal sexual function"
The source is an article entitled: "Prostate Cancer: Erectile Dysfunction",
SOURCES:
American Cancer Society.
Muse (alprostadil) package insert.
American Urological Association.
Reviewed by Louise Chang, MD on July 30, 2010

and the website:

Thank you again for your question.

Pat,

Dr James Bicher, Director of Valley Cancer Institute and one of the pioneer of Hyperthermia, published a scientific last April (2010) in the 30 international meeting of the Society for Thermal Medicine (Hyperthermia) on the subject you just asked!

The Title of this paper is: "Hyperfractionated Thermoradiotheray (HTRT) Causes Less Sexual Dysfunction than External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT) in Definitive Treatment of Prostate Cancer", which means "Hyperthermia combined with fractionated (low-dose) Radiation Causes Less Sexual Dysfunction than conventional Radiation therapy"

The summary of the results of side effects, Erectile Dysfunction, on both therapies is:

1. <strong>erectile dysfunction between 30% to 60% on conventional Radiation alone</strong>

2. <strong>only 10% of 5-year survivors have erectile dysfunction of our patients treated with Hyperthermia combined with low-dose-fractionated-radiation</strong>.

I will publish the slide show Dr James Bicher presented with this paper, where shows graphics of those comparative results and the sources of information (the International Journal of Hyperthermia)

Thank you very much Pat for such a great question! I wish more people were educated as you are when weighing and researching about the best treatment for prostate cancer treatment and the alternatives available now days.

If prostate cancer is treated with Hyperthermia and Radiation, how do the long term (2 year, 5 year 10 year) side effects compare to Radiation alone? Specifically incontinence and ED?

Dear Jack:

We can help your brother in our facility. We have treated similar cases in the past.

Please fax a copy of his latest radiology tests (PET/CT/MRI) for the review and evaluation of our oncologists. We will arrange a free telephone conference with one of our oncologists as soon as we receive it.

If you have other concerns, please feel free to contact us at (310) 398-0013 and please ask for Nash.

Sincerely,
